Hours: Monday-Friday, 4.5 hours per day.

Summary
Assist the Food Manager in the preparation and service of quality food to students in a quick and pleasant manner.
Essential Duties
- Assists in the preparation of all food items;
- Successfully operate the Meal Magic computer program;
- Assists with the daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment to ensure cleanliness and sanitary conditions are met;
- Reports inferior quality of food or faulty equipment to the appropriate authority;
- Prepares food according to a planned menu, uniform recipes, and determines if the finished product is of quality both in flavor and appearance before it is served;
- Keeps daily records of food prepared and used;
- Utilizes the best methods of preparing and cooking food in large quantities;
- Adjusts recipes to the quantity required;
- Takes in-service training as provided in accordance with the contract;
- Cross trains with other food service positions if seeking a new food service position;
- Completes yearly ServSafe Training;
- Completes six (6) CEU's per year;
- Performs additional duties associated with the classification as needed and assigned by supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibility
All school employees have some responsibility for supervising students and assisting in maintaining a safe environment at all times.
Qualification Requirements

Education and Experience
- High school graduate or equivalent (GED);
- One year experience with large-scale cooking and food preparation and serving;
- Must have ServSafe Allergen Certificate and keep updated;
- Must complete six (6) CEU's per year;
- Must complete food safety and sanitation classes.
Communication Skills
- Communicates effectively with Food Services Director, employees, school staff, parents, students, vendors, and other customers;
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, recipes, short correspondence, and memos;
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization;
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to perform the essential duties using mathematical units of American money, weight, measurement and volume.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to solve routine problems with minimal supervisory assistance;
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and community;
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
