Job Summary
The Program Assistant provides essential administrative, client‑service, and operational support to the Program Manager and the broader Program Department at Religious Community Services (RCS). This role helps ensure smooth daily operations by assisting with client intake, documentation, volunteer coordination, and community referrals. The Program Assistant plays a key role in supporting RCS’ mission to help individuals and families achieve stability and self‑sufficiency.

This position works closely with the Program Manager, Program Office Volunteers, and community partners to maintain accurate records, support client services, and uphold RCS standards and procedures.

Duties

Program & Client Support

  • Assist with client intake by gathering required documentation, verifying information, and entering data into RCS systems.
  • Support Program Office Volunteers by answering questions, preparing materials, and ensuring they have the resources needed to determine client eligibility for services.
  • Help identify potential barriers for clients and communicate these to the Program Manager for review.
  • Provide follow‑up communication with clients regarding appointments, documentation needs, or referral updates.
  • Assist with coordinating community referrals and maintaining updated referral lists.

Administrative & Operational Support

  • Maintain organized client files, ensuring all documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with RCS policies.
  • Assist with generating daily office communications, reports, and data entry tasks.
  • Support the Program Manager with scheduling, outreach coordination, and preparation for program activities.
  • Help track program outcomes, client progress, and service utilization as directed.
  • Assist with maintaining program supplies, forms, and resource materials.

Community & Outreach Support

  • Participate in outreach activities as needed, including distributing materials, attending community events, or supporting program initiatives.
  • Assist with job development and job placement follow‑ups by gathering employer information or contacting clients as directed.
  • Support collaboration with housing specialists by preparing documentation or coordinating communication.

Organizational Alignment

  • Operate in accordance with RCS policies, procedures, and mission.
  • Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and appropriate boundaries at all times.
  • Demonstrate compassion, respect, and cultural sensitivity when working with diverse populations.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate compassionately and professionally.
  • Proficient in data entry, Microsoft Office, and general computer use.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain reliability and trustworthiness.
  • Willingness to learn and participate in ongoing training.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and respect the chain of command.
  • Valid North Carolina driver’s license preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL FACTORS

  • Work with diverse populations, including individuals experiencing homelessness, addiction, or mental illness – continuously.
  • Exposure to odors or unsanitary conditions – frequently.
  • Requires stamina and ability to move throughout facilities – frequently.
  • May encounter loud environments or behaviorally aggressive guests – occasionally.
  • Must be able to see, hear, speak, and communicate clearly – continuously.
  • Ability to climb stairs and lift up to 25 lbs – occasionally.
  • Travel to/from client appointments or outreach events – occasionally.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Human Services or related field preferred.

Pay: $15.00 per hour
