Position Overview
The Logistics Lead is a hands-on leader responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of logistics, warehouse functions, shipping/receiving, and inventory handling. Reporting directly to the Logistics Supervisor, this role ensures all warehouse workflows are executed efficiently, team priorities are aligned with operational goals, and service level agreements (SLAs) are met consistently.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, technically skilled, and capable of managing a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. This individual will play a critical role in optimizing warehouse performance and supporting cross-functional coordination across departments.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
Lead daily warehouse operations including inbound/outbound logistics, shipping, receiving, inventory movements, and order fulfillment.
Set daily priorities for the logistics team based on company goals, work order volume, and shipment deadlines.
Supervise and train team members, ensuring consistent performance, proper task delegation, and shift coverage.
Conduct daily huddles to communicate goals, identify blockers, and maintain alignment with leadership expectations.
Inventory & System Accuracy
Ensure inventory accuracy by maintaining proper usage of inventory systems (e.g., Odoo) and reinforcing best practices.
Oversee cycle counts and assists with inventory reconciliations in coordination with the Inventory/Odoo team.
Keep detailed records of stock levels, shipping logs, receiving documentation, and workflow performance.
Shipping & Compliance
Coordinate domestic and international shipping, ensuring compliance with regulations, including non-toxic dangerous goods classification.
Collaborate with procurement and reclamation teams to support intake and fulfillment operations.
Ensure packaging, labeling, and documentation meet compliance and quality assurance standards.
Data, Documentation & Reporting
Maintain clear documentation for team processes, SOPs, and training materials.
Track and report on daily logistics KPIs (e.g., on-time shipping, receiving turnaround, inventory variances).
Identify performance trends and escalate operational issues or improvement opportunities to the Logistics Supervisor.
Training & Safety
Facilitate ongoing training and onboarding for new team members.
Ensure the team adheres to all warehouse safety protocols and is certified where required (e.g., forklift operation).
Proactively identify and address safety risks or equipment issues in the workspace.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of logistics or warehouse experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership or team lead role.
Forklift certified, with hands-on experience driving and operating in warehouse environments.
Strong working knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Teams, and the ability to adapt to ERP or CRM systems (e.g., Odoo).
Familiarity with shipping documentation, international shipments, and basic compliance (e.g., dangerous goods).
Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
Proven ability to lead under pressure and adapt to shifting priorities.
Comfortable giving and receiving feedback and contributing to team performance reviews.
