Responsibilities
- Perform thorough patient assessments by monitoring vital signs, conducting physical examinations, and evaluating physiological responses to treatment.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following established protocols, including IV infusions and medication management for acute pain or chronic conditions.
- Assist with medical procedures such as catheterization, suturing, tube feeding, and sterile processing techniques.
- Maintain detailed and compliant medical documentation within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic or Cerner, ensuring HIPAA standards are upheld at all times.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients with diverse needs such as dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, or developmental disabilities.
- Support patient education on health coaching topics including medication adherence, nutrition, discharge planning, and lifestyle modifications.
- Respond effectively to triage calls or urgent situations in emergency medicine or urgent care settings while utilizing critical thinking skills honed through ICU or trauma center experience.
Skills
- Proven experience working with individuals with disabilities or in specialized care environments such as memory care or hospice.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Skilled in IV insertion, phlebotomy, venipuncture, catheter care, and airway management including ventilator support when necessary.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation and patient records management.
- Experience in acute care settings including hospital medicine, ICU (Intensive Care Unit), Level I/II trauma centers or emergency rooms is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform physical examinations and assessments efficiently while demonstrating excellent patient care skills in geriatrics or pediatrics environments.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic techniques essential for maintaining safety standards across all clinical procedures.
