What are the responsibilities and job description for the Critical Systems Technician II - Connect/Battery position at Reliant Critical Infrastructure?
The Critical Systems Technician II supports battery systems associated with Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) in critical facilities. This role focuses on battery installations, replacements, startups, certifications, and preventive maintenance, with an emphasis on safety, accuracy, and minimal customer disruption.
Core Responsibilities
- Support battery replacements, new installations, and preventive maintenance activities
- Perform work in live critical environments while strictly following MOPs, safety rules, and facility procedures
- Assist with DC battery system maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs
- Work from schematics, drawings, and verbal instructions
- Learn and execute:
- Sealed and flooded cell battery installation/removal
- Battery rack and spill containment system builds
- Pre‑installation testing and PM data collection/reporting
- Use hand tools, maintenance equipment, and diagnostic instruments
- Maintain clean, organized job sites
- Support other service divisions as needed (Switchgear, HVAC, Operations, etc.)
- Assist in warehouse operations when required
Technical & Safety Focus
- AC/DC fundamentals and battery system theory
- Use of: Digital multimeters (AC/DC), Amp clamps and flexible CTs, Alber Cellcorder battery testing equipment
- Battery string configurations (series, parallel, series‑parallel)
- Torque specifications, torque marking, and visual inspections
- Proper use of PPE, arc‑flash protection, and isolation devices
- Strong emphasis on NFPA‑70E and OSHA safety compliance
Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Clean driving record
- OSHA 10‑Hour Certification
- NFPA‑70E Safety Training
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word & Excel)
- Willingness to travel and work in mission‑critical environments
- Reliable attendance and strong teamwork/customer interaction skills
