CLASSIFICATION: Accounts Payable Clerk: Hourly

GRADE: Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO: Finance & Accounting Manager

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Primary duties include receiving and processing daily mail, sorting, matching and coding all purchase order invoices using three tier match system (invoice, receiver, purchase order), processing and distributing A/P over 100 checks weekly. Will ensure on time vendor payment, capitalize on all available vendor discounts, handling inquiries from vendors, coding freight for all incoming purchase order invoices, maintaining A/P records (filing), and check review.

GENERAL DUTIES:

• The AP Clerk performs one or more accounting tasks such as; posting to registers and ledgers; balancing and reconciling accounts; verifying the internal consistency, completeness, and mathematical accuracy of the accounting documents.
• In addition, tasks include; assigning prescribed accounting distribution codes; examining and verifying the clerical accuracy of various types of reports, lists, calculations, and postings.

OTHER DUTIES: May be required to perform housekeeping duties to assigned work area and other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Associate degree in accounting is required. Two years' directly related accounting experience may be substituted for education requirements. Good verbal and written communications skills and advanced commercial computer software skills are preferred. Exceptional organizational skills required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain security clearance. Supports E-OMS operational objectives; observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work activities are normally performed in an environmentally controlled area.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position will be subject to substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Must be able to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; and requires occasional lifting or moving of heavy objects or materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
