Overview of the position

The Terminal Manager is responsible for overseeing all operations and maintenance of a local school bus service depot. You are the face of the company with the client and the staff. You are an integral part of bringing the company vision to light. Daily operations of the service are your responsibility. This includes ensuring schedules are adhered to, safety is enforced, hiring, customer service, and more.

We are looking for someone that is a motivator, fosters respect, and can build a team. Someone that is accountable, ethical, flexible, and willing to dive in to make the business work. Someone that never thinks, “That is not my job.”

Duties and responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the facility to include scheduling, safety, maintenance, customer service, and more.
• Motivate your team and treat them with respect, resolve issues when they come up.
• Nurture good relations between with and between staff and clients.
• Monitor expenditures and costs and ensure that the operations of the depot remain profitable.
• Work with the clients and parents to resolve issues if they arise.
• Function as a substitute driver when necessary.
• Experience working with routing software.

Required skills and experience

• Ability to pass a criminal background check and obtain a clean child abuse record check.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
• Acceptable driving record.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Knowledge of local school district.
• CDL Class B along with S & P Endorsement required within 60 days of hire.
• Microsoft Office knowledge (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Strong organizational, problem solving and customer service skills.
• Detailed oriented, accurate and conscientious and work independently.
• Proven ability to make sound decisions on a regular basis and know when to bring issues, questions and problems to the President.
• Strong verbal and written skills with the ability to effectively document your work.
• Ability to interact directly with clients of all knowledge levels, and at any level of their organization.
• Ethical and reliable.

Preferred skills and experiences

• College degree in a business major.
• At least 2 years of Dispatch/Supervisory experience.

Work environment

• Work Hours: Monday through Friday 5.30 am until 5:00pm, with extra hours as needed to meet deadlines.
• Lifting and moving products/boxes up to 50 pounds.
• Standing, sitting and walking throughout building and outside bus parking lot.
• Driving school bus.
• Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
• Travel: Minimal.
