Job Summary
Delta Steel is currently hiring Material Handlers with overhead crane experience to support warehouse and production operations. This position offers a Friday–Sunday schedule (5:00 AM – 5:00 PM) and includes weekend premium pay, full-time compensation, overtime opportunities, eligibility for a monthly profit incentive, and a comprehensive benefits package. This role will operate material handling equipment, including 10–20 ton remote-controlled overhead cranes, to safely move, organize, and stage steel materials within the facility. Support production operations by ensuring materials are properly positioned, processed, and available according to work orders while maintaining safety, quality, and efficiency standards.

Job Function
Operate remote-controlled overhead cranes (10–20 ton capacity) to move steel materials throughout the facility
Load, unload, and transport steel beams, plate, and other materials to designated areas
Build and stage customer orders based on work orders and production requirements
Organize and maintain material locations to ensure efficient workflow
Ensure materials are accurately identified, tagged, and handled properly
Assist machine operators and production teams by supplying materials as needed
Use manual hand tools (e.g., wrenches, clamps) to assist with material handling and setup
Use measuring devices such as tape measures and micrometers to verify material dimensions when required
Apply basic math skills for measurements, counts, and material handling tasks
Perform daily inspections of cranes and equipment; report safety or maintenance concerns
Follow all workplace safety rules, regulations, and procedures
Maintain a clean and organized work area
Move materials safely to appropriate warehouse, processing, or shipping locations
Assist with inventory organization and material tracking
Perform other warehouse or processing duties as assigned by supervisor
Cross-train and support other functions when primary duties are not required
Required Skills
Minimum of 1 year of experience operating a 10–20 ton overhead crane preferred
training available for entry-level candidates
High school diploma or GED
Experience in a steel service center or fabrication environment preferred
Ability to operate remote-controlled crane safely and efficiently
Ability to read and follow work orders and instructions
Basic math skills and ability to accurately measure materials
Experience using measuring tools such as tape measures and micrometers
Experience using manual hand tools (wrenches, clamps, etc.)
Ability to work in a fast-paced, industrial environment with changing priorities
Strong attention to safety and detail
High level of dependability and accountability
Positive attitude and ability to work effectively on a team
