Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide essential support to individuals with autism and developmental disabilities. This role involves assisting clients in their daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring their overall well-being. The ideal candidate will have experience in social work, nursing home care, or hospice care and be committed to enhancing the quality of life for those they serve.

Responsibilities

• Provide personalized support to individuals with autism and developmental disabilities in various settings.
• Assist clients with daily living activities, including meal preparation, personal hygiene, and medication management.
• Engage clients in social and recreational activities to promote social skills and community involvement.
• Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's needs and preferences.
• Monitor and document client progress, behaviors, and any changes in condition.
• Ensure a safe and supportive environment by adhering to health and safety protocols.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other caregivers to coordinate care.
• Provide assistance with mobility, including lifting or transferring clients as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and respect the dignity of all clients.

Requirements

• Experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities is highly preferred.
• Background in nursing home care or hospice care is advantageous.
• Skills in meal preparation and cooking for clients are beneficial.
• Knowledge of CPR techniques is a plus.
• Experience in dementia care is desirable.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
• Ability to lift clients safely when necessary and assist with mobility challenges.
• A compassionate nature with a commitment to enhancing the lives of individuals with special needs.
• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications in caregiving or social work are a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
