Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide essential support to individuals with autism and developmental disabilities. Responsibilities
- Provide personalized support to individuals with autism and developmental disabilities in various settings.
- Assist clients with daily living activities, including meal preparation, personal hygiene, and medication management.
- Engage clients in social and recreational activities to promote social skills and community involvement.
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's needs and preferences.
- Monitor and document client progress, behaviors, and any changes in condition.
- Ensure a safe and supportive environment by adhering to health and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other caregivers to coordinate care.
- Provide assistance with mobility, including lifting or transferring clients as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect the dignity of all clients.
Requirements
- Experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities is highly preferred.
- Background in nursing home care or hospice care is advantageous.
- Skills in meal preparation and cooking for clients are beneficial.
- Knowledge of CPR techniques is a plus.
- Experience in dementia care is desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
- Ability to lift clients safely when necessary and assist with mobility challenges.
- A compassionate nature with a commitment to enhancing the lives of individuals with special needs.
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications in caregiving or social work are a plus.
