What are the responsibilities and job description for the CAD OPERATOR position at RELIABLE FIRE EQUIPMENT LLC?
SUMMARY
Cad Operator must be a motivated self-starter, able to multitask in busy working environment, knowledgeable with local and national fire alarm codes. Proficient with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office. Must have basic mechanical and electrical background.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following and are not all-inclusive. Other duties may be assigned as required by management. Special hazards and/or Fire Alarm
- Establish and maintain schedule of in-house and out sourced CAD activities
- Assist Project Manager in maintaining department reports and tracking status of projects
- Set and maintain standards for quality and accuracy for work performed by the in-house and out sourced CAD department
- Training and development of CAD operators and salespeople in applications as needed
- Provide input on estimated hours required for complete submittal package and close out documentation on all installation jobs
- Monitor hours for jobs in progress to insure efficiency of completion within budget
- Compare actual hours to estimated hours at project completion and review any discrepancies with appropriate personnel
- Assist management in implementing and evaluating procedures of the CAD department to ensure efficiencies and profitability of the department
- Review drawings for accuracies
- Provide layouts for Fire Alarm and Fire Suppression systems following all local and national codes
- Perform CAD functions as required to maintain schedule and control overhead costs
- Prepare shop drawings, submittal packages, technical documents, and equipment lists for the system installation.
- Coordinate with sales personnel to acquire CAD backgrounds and electronic media required to develop system layout
- Coordinating with the AHJ through the drawing approval process. Follow up on anticipated date of approval of submittals by AHJ
- Coordinate with the installers, salespeople, sub contractors, and field technicians on the system installation and programming as required
- Keep current on all product updates and code changes
- Coordinate with IT department all necessary hardware and software required. Maintain inventory of all supplies needed for the CAD department
- Attend job site meetings and site surveys as required
- Review and order equipment and pipe and fittings per project layout
- Attend weekly job status meetings
- Coordinate with project manager project turnover meetings
- All other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Associates in Applied Science with CAD, 5 years in the Fire protection industry. Prior supervisory experience, NICET Level II or higher in special Hazards and Fire Alarm, low voltage electrical experience and mechanical background required. Strong communication skills, both written and oral.

Factory training
Illinois Fire Equipment Distributors license
State of Illinois PERC card
Valid drivers license and good driving record
