As an Automation Manager, you will lead the development, implementation, and optimization of automation systems to better assist our customers in the operation of their plants. This role is critical in enhancing operational efficiency, reduction of operating down time and ensuring consistent quality in service delivery.
Duties
- Lead, mentor, and supervise automation technicians, consultants and design personnel, fostering a positive and productive work environment
- Participate in the interviewing, hiring and training of new employees
- Oversee daily workflow and schedules, assigning tasks and coordinating schedules to meet deadlines, quotas and customer needs.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching and counseling, and address employee concerns effectively.
- Assist other departments when required
- Design, train and deploy automation solutions for manufacturing, inventory management and service workflows.
- Responsible for documenting processes and procedures, putting them in place and following up to ensure they are being followed.
- Oversee integration of PLCs, SCADA Systems and loT devices in field and shop environments
- Analyze current processes and recommend improvements using automation technologies to achieve process optimization
- Responsible for overall spending for automation needs. Will be accountable for controlling cost for product, travel needs for the department, this includes holding your team accountable for the company vehicle or business rental, inventory received to take to customers and all travel expenses.
- Evaluate the needs for new tools and equipment when needed for the automation department, presenting the cost and ROI to the management team prior to making purchases to help determine how these will help with the company growth plans.
- Lead and attend weekly scheduled departmental L10 meetings.
- Job productivity at a pace based on timelines and budgets set by operations manager and team.
- Ensure team member time sheets are turned in complete and approved with all areas properly filled out.
- Ensure team is following safety rules and develop the standard that safety is of the utmost importance to the team.

Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Automation, Industrial Engineering,or related field.
- 5 years of experience in industrial automation, preferably in construction or heavy equipment sectors
- No less than 3-5 years of management experience leading a team required.
- Customer and Employee Focused orientation with a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
- Results-driven mindset with a focus on achieving targets and delivering customer value.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Good interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- Strong knowledge of PLC programming, HMI development and industrial networking.
- Strong customer focus and decision-making skills
- Must live within a 45-minute radius of facility
- Experience with asphalt equipment or similar mechanical systems a plus.
- Excellent project management and communication skills
- Travel to customer sites up to 60% of hours worked.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
