We are seeking a highly skilled and energetic Underground Mechanic to join our dynamic team. Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on underground construction and mining machinery, including excavators, cranes, bulldozers, loaders, and other heavy equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues using schematics, diagnostic tools, and hands-on troubleshooting techniques.
- Conduct electrical diagnostics and repairs on equipment electrical systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Maintain and repair hydraulic systems, transmissions, air brake systems, suspension components, and HVAC units on various machinery.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques to assemble, repair, or modify equipment parts as needed.
- Perform heavy lifting tasks safely while handling large components or machinery parts during repairs or replacements.
- Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, parts used, and inspection reports to ensure compliance with safety regulations and operational standards.
Experience
- Proven mechanic experience working with heavy construction or mining equipment in an underground environment.
- Dealership experience or OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) knowledge is highly desirable.
- Strong background in fabrication, welding, electrical diagnostics, automotive diagnostics, and equipment troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with Caterpillar (CAT), farm machinery, industrial equipment, tractor-trailers, and construction machinery maintenance.
- Skilled in reading schematics and technical manuals related to heavy equipment operation and repair.
- Experience with electrical systems including HVAC, diesel engine repair, brake repair, alignment services, hydraulics, suspension systems, and tire service.
- Knowledge of service technician practices for construction equipment servicing and automotive repair is a plus.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment such as excavators or forklifts safely is preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with team members and project managers regarding maintenance needs or issues.
