We are seeking an experienced Policy Management Advisor with a strong background in policy governance, regulatory documentation, project coordination, and stakeholder management to support a major Capital Markets risk remediation initiative. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, governance teams, and risk partners to develop, maintain, and enhance a global policy management framework.
This role is ideal for a highly organized and detail-oriented professional who excels in documentation management, policy development, governance processes, and cross-functional collaboration. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring policies, standards, and supporting documentation align with regulatory expectations and internal governance requirements while helping transition the framework into a sustainable business-as-usual operating model.
Location: Toronto, ON or Chicago, IL (Hybrid – close to client office)
Contract Length: 12 Months (Extension Possible)
Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Partner with subject matter experts, business stakeholders, risk teams, and governance partners to develop, update, and maintain policy documentation.
- Review, edit, and refine policies, standards, procedures, and supporting documentation to ensure alignment with governance frameworks and regulatory expectations.
- Evaluate existing documentation and identify opportunities to retire, consolidate, simplify, or enhance policies to improve effectiveness and usability.
- Ensure policy documents comply with established standards for formatting, version control, approvals, record retention, and governance requirements.
- Coordinate policy review cycles, stakeholder feedback, approvals, and publication activities across multiple business areas.
- Maintain policy repositories, documentation inventories, and tracking mechanisms to support ongoing governance and compliance requirements.
- Provide project coordination and change management support for policy management initiatives and remediation workstreams.
- Monitor deliverables, milestones, dependencies, and action items to ensure timely completion of policy-related activities.
- Support the transition of policy management processes from remediation efforts into sustainable business-as-usual operations.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen governance processes, improve operational efficiency, and enhance policy management practices.
- Prepare presentations, status updates, reporting materials, and executive-level communications related to policy governance activities.
- Collaborate across functions to ensure consistency, transparency, and alignment of policy management practices globally.
- 5 years of experience in policy management, governance, project management, change management, business operations, risk management, or related functions.
- Demonstrated experience developing, editing, reviewing, and managing policy documentation within a structured governance environment.
- Strong understanding of policy lifecycle management, documentation standards, approval processes, and governance frameworks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all organizational levels.
- Proven stakeholder management experience, including working with senior leaders, subject matter experts, and cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational and coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
- Experience tracking deliverables, managing documentation repositories, and maintaining governance records.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on process improvement and operational effectiveness.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a highly matrixed environment.
- Experience within Capital Markets, Banking, Financial Services, Risk Management, Compliance, or Regulatory environments.
- Knowledge of policy governance frameworks, regulatory remediation initiatives, and enterprise governance practices.
- Experience supporting first-line-of-defense functions.
- Familiarity with document management systems, workflow tools, and governance platforms.
- Exposure to enterprise-wide policy management programs and control frameworks.
- Change Management certification, PMP, or related governance/project management credentials considered an asset.
- Post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Public Policy, Risk Management, Communications, or a related discipline.
