Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Data Modeler with strong expertise in Snowflake Data Cloud to design, optimize, and govern scalable data models that support analytics, reporting, and advanced data use cases.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models optimized for Snowflake.
- Implement dimensional (Star/Snowflake schema) and normalized data models to support analytics and reporting.
- Translate business and functional requirements into scalable, high-performance data models.
- Optimize Snowflake schemas for query performance, cost efficiency, and scalability.
- Define and enforce data modeling standards, naming conventions, and best practices.
- Partner with Data Engineers to guide table design, clustering strategies, and data partitioning approaches.
- Support data governance, metadata management, and data lineage initiatives.
- Perform impact analysis for schema changes and manage versioning of data models.
- Work closely with BI and Analytics teams to ensure models meet reporting and dashboarding needs.
- Participate in design reviews and provide recommendations on data architecture improvements.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field.
- Must have minimum 5 years of relevant experience
- Strong experience in data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical).
- Hands-on expertise with Snowflake including:
- Schema design and optimization
- Clustering and performance tuning
- Understanding of micro-partitioning
- Proficiency in SQL (advanced querying and optimization).
- Experience with dimensional modeling
- Knowledge of Supply chain/Demand Planning
- Familiarity with ETL/ELT pipelines and integration with Snowflake.
- Experience using data modeling tools such as Erwin, ER/Studio, PowerDesigner, Lucidchart, or similar.
- Understanding of data warehousing, data lakes, and modern cloud data platforms.
