What You'll Do

The Retail Lead - Personal ServiceInventory is a hybrid leadership role responsible for overseeing daily retail operations, delivering exceptional personal service to customers and patients, and managing inventory functions within a Connecticut-licensed medical and adult-use cannabis dispensary.

This position serves as a key point of contact for retail staff, ensuring adherence to Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) regulations, company policies, and operational standards. The Retail Lead supports the management team in driving performance, maintaining compliance, and providing a high-quality customer and patient experience.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

LeadershipOperational Oversight

  • Supervise and support Retail Associates and Personal Service Providers to ensure smooth and compliant daily operations.
  • Act as the primary point of contact in the absence of management, ensuring all DCP and company protocols are followed.
  • Lead by example in maintaining professionalism, accuracy, and customer engagement standards.
  • Assist in training new employees on retail procedures, customer service expectations, and inventory controls.
  • Monitor staff performance, provide feedback, and communicate operational issues to management promptly.
  • Support scheduling, task delegation, and floor coordination to meet business needs efficiently.

Customer Service / Personal Service (Retail-Focused)

  • Deliver exceptional, personalized service to medical patients and adult-use customers, providing guidance on product selection, dosage, and compliance.
  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with patients and customers.
  • Ensure retail transactions are completed accurately and efficiently using the POS system.
  • Maintain a professional, welcoming, and compliant retail environment.
  • Support merchandising, promotional events, and educational initiatives to enhance customer experience.

Inventory Responsibilities

  • Oversee and participate in receiving, verifying, and organizing product shipments.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant inventory records in accordance with CT DCP regulations and company SOPs.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts, reconciliations, and audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure all products are properly labeled, stored, rotated, and displayed to maintain quality and integrity.
  • Report inventory discrepancies, damaged items, or compliance concerns to management immediately.
  • Assist in preparing for DCP inspections and maintaining full regulatory readiness at all times.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with pharmacists, management, and other department leads to coordinate operations between medical and adult-use areas.
  • Promote and uphold company culture, compliance, and patient-first values.
  • Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and discretion in all customer and business interactions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

EducationRequirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in retail, customer service, or cannabis industry preferred.
  • Familiarity with POS systems and DCP-compliant inventory software preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and flexible schedules as required.
  • Knowledge of Connecticut cannabis regulations is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Stand and walk for prolonged periods.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting (up to 25 lbs regularly; occasionally up to 50 lbs with assistance).
  • Manual dexterity for handling products, labeling, and operating POS equipment.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to remain focused and alert in a fast-paced retail environment.

Work Environment

  • On-site position within a Connecticut-licensed medical cannabis dispensary facility.
  • Involves working evenings, weekends, or holidays as required by operational needs.
  • Exposure to standard retail and medical facility conditions, including varying temperatures and moderate noise levels.
  • Must comply with all security, safety, and DCP inspection protocols.
