What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Manager position at REIOS Recruitment?
This is a privately owned manufacturer making composite tooling for aerospace and defense programs. Every tool is a one off. Large format 3D printing gets it close to net shape and CNC machining finishes it, so printing, 5 axis machining and hand finishing all run under one roof.
Scheduling currently sits with the engineering team and is coming off them, so this is the whole shop rather than a shift or a department. There is a company wide profit bonus for this role also.
Responsibilities:
- Own the shop schedule across printing, machining and finishing, and keep promised dates honest
- Run the daily production meeting and hold the floor to what was agreed
- Manage 5 to 7 staff across bench, assembly, finishing and printing, including the machining lead if you have run machining before
- Set and police safety and housekeeping standards
- Build the output, hours and rework reporting the leadership team runs on
- Work with design and engineering so tool releases reach the floor in a usable state
- Have the accountability conversations when work slips
Experience required:
- 5 years in manufacturing operations
- Bespoke or one-off production background, such as tooling, fabrication or equipment build
- Happy spending 30 to 40% of the week on the floor rather than at a desk
- Strong Excel including pivot tables, as the reporting is yours to build
- Experience scheduling manufacturing operations
- Comfortable reading drawings and GD&T, AS9100 or ISO 9001 exposure is a plus
- US person status for export controlled work
