What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Supervisor position at Reinke Manufacturing?
Reinke is currently recruiting for a Production Supervisor in the Irrigation Weld Department in Deshler. This position supervises activities in assigned production areas involving welding and robotic welding. Coordinates work assignments and shift personnel to meet production schedules. Maintains check on production quality and output, operation and condition of equipment, machines and tooling, and compliance with all safety regulations. Trains subordinate personnel, explain policies and procedures, maintain discipline and insure adherence to safety and good housekeeping regulations. Recommends change in size of department work force, dismissals, transfers, and upgrading. Establishes good personnel relations and ensures continuous maintenance of high morale, efficiency and harmonious operations.
Works closely with Supervision and the Human Resource Administrator in resolving the more serious personnel problems. Rates personnel performance in accordance with established procedures. Supervises various production activities involving operation of equipment such as robotic welders, wire feed welders, plasma cutters, punch presses, rolling mills, electrical testing equipment, or other machines and equipment as assigned. Maintains continuous check on the status of machines, tooling, control instruments, safety devices, and accessory equipment. Requests repairs and adjustments, prepare work orders, and personally make minor repairs and adjustments in emergencies. Makes spot checks on setups, assure setups are properly made, and recommend tooling modifications when appropriate. Makes job assignments at the start of each shift, and arrange for setups in accordance with production schedules. Checks adequacy of the work force and coordinates with the Manufacturing Operations Manager - Weld and Fab in working out inter-departmental transfers of personnel or for hiring of additional personnel. Assigns operators on the basis of classification, capabilities and experience. Schedules special work along with regular production runs adhering closely to production schedules. Verifies accuracy of subordinates' reporting both direct labor hours and production output.

Requires knowledge of production machines, equipment, tooling and methods as applied to Company products. Knowledge of the principles of supervision, leadership, production planning, quality assurance, industrial safety, and related functions is essential. Must have some understanding of predetermined performance standards, data collection, and cost control. Must be able to read blueprints. Equivalent to high school plus two years of trade, technical school or college level studies is preferred.
Requires 4 to 5 or more years' experience in production operations involving a variety of machines, equipment and tooling. Background in supervision and training of production personnel is required.
