Job Overview
Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Ophthalmic Scribe/Medical Assistant, where your energetic and detail-oriented approach will play a vital role in delivering exceptional eye care. In this position, you'll work closely with our ophthalmologist to document patient encounters accurately, assist with clinical procedures, and ensure smooth clinic operations. Your proactive attitude and thorough understanding of medical documentation will help enhance patient experiences and support efficient clinic workflows. This paid role offers a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills in a fast-paced, rewarding environment dedicated to improving vision health.

This position is in office, part-time Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 8am to 5:30pm.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Conduct preliminary testing, such as visual acuity, visual field and eye pressure tests
  • Assist the physician with medical procedures, including the use of ophthalmic instruments and equipment
  • Educate patients on eye health, use of medications and post-operative care
  • Maintain accurate patient medical records and charting
  • Prepare exam rooms and equipment for patients, ensuring that all instruments and supplies are properly sterilized
  • Communicate effectively with patients, coworkers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care

Qualifications & Skills

  • Certification from a recognized Ophthalmic Medical Assistant program preferred
  • Experience working in an ophthalmology clinic or eye care setting
  • Proficiency in using ophthalmic diagnostic equipment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Bilingual language skills are an asset
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and eye anatomy
  • 1-2 years of experience as an Ophthalmic Medical Assistant
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24.0 per week
