Service Advisor Job Description
Summary:
Service Advisors assist customers with repair and scheduled maintenance service requests. They help to ensure the vehicle is fixed and maintained properly and within a specified time frame. Excellent communication skills are necessary in this position.
Reports To: Service Manager
Job Duties:
• Greet all customers promptly; provides timely professional service.
• Provides excellent customer service by listening to customer inquiries and requests, identifying service needs, resolving customer concerns, and selling additional products when appropriate.
• Properly communicate with customers on the status of the vehicle and explain what repairs are necessary to complete issues.
• Estimates cost and completion time and settles customer accounts.
• Accept payment and provide a summary of repairs.
• Obtain the customer’s written approval on all repair orders at the time of the write-up or when closing additional add-on sales.
• Create repair orders and follow a suggested schedule to maximize shop efficiency and profitability.
• Inspect every finished repair order for proper completion, pricing accuracy, and legibility.
• Answer incoming phone calls promptly, courteously, and make effort to satisfy the caller’s inquiry.
• Assists other Service Advisors when needed.
• Ensure that work is completed on time and as requested.
• Properly and accurately input data into CDK system.
Exemption Status:
Service Advisors is a non-exempt position. You are required by Federal and State Law and by
Reineke Family Dealerships to keep an accurate record of all hours you work each day. Failure
to comply with this requirement can result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
The dealership is an “at-will” employer, meaning that your employment has no specific term,
and that the employment relationship may be terminated at any time at the will of either party on
notice to the other. Nothing contained in your commission (compensation/pay) plan should be
understood to alter the nature of the at-will employment relationship or create a contract of
employment for a specific term.
Qualifications:
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to work in a paced-paced environment with the ability to multitask
• 2 years' experience in a service or dealership environment, sales, or customer service
• Excellent communication and writing skills
