Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers equipped with refrigerated trailers across OTR routes, ensuring compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards
- Navigate using GPS systems to plan optimal routes for timely deliveries and pickups
- Load and unload freight, including refrigerated cargo, following proper manual handling procedures and logistics cargo handling protocols
- Transport various types of freight such as hazardous materials (Hazmat), dangerous goods, flatbed loads, tankers, and automobile transportation shipments
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer to ensure safety and compliance with hazardous materials regulations and truck loading/unloading standards
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and vehicle maintenance in accordance with FMCSA regulations
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery schedules, or any issues encountered during transit
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, especially with refrigerated trailers and route driving in OTR settings
- Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols for dangerous goods transportation
- Skilled in GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning and real-time adjustments
- Ability to handle manual transmission trucks confidently and perform manual handling tasks during load & unload operations
- Experience with freight logistics cargo handling including truck loading/unloading procedures for various cargo types such as flatbed or tanker loads
- Excellent driving record demonstrating safe operation of tractor-trailers over long distances
- Familiarity with delivery driving best practices to ensure customer satisfaction while maintaining safety standards
