Position Summary
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Insure all network and technology-related equipment is installed, repaired, and tested in accordance with pertinent industry standards and kept in good working order.
- Develop and maintain an equipment repair and service log system for all technology-related equipment.
- Provide Help desk Support services to all College personnel (Over the phone, email, and/or in person). To include assigned support calls to the appropriate employee to ensure that all tickets are completed in a timely manner.
- Perform preventive maintenance and use diagnostic and troubleshooting procedures to ensure optimum performance of labs and networks.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and install plug-ins on students’ and instructors’ personal computers and laptops so they can access online materials (Canvas, Screencast, etc.).
- Assist in configuring, installing, repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting the campus networking infrastructure: (routers, switches, hubs, network cards, media converters, UPS appliances, CAT 5 cabling, patch cables, patch panels, RJ45 connectors, junction boxes, and network racks/frames).
- Assist in maintaining campus servers (DNS, DHCP, etc.).
- Assist in managing, maintaining, and creating user accounts; managing security of user accounts; and responding to user requests, questions, and issues.
- Assist with maintaining campus Internet connectivity and monitoring Internet activity.
- Assist with maintaining, updating, and resolving issues with wireless access points.
- Assist instructors in academic labs and classrooms with troubleshooting and repairing of IT Equipment.
- Assist in preparing requisitions for network hardware, computer hardware, software, and supplies.
- Demonstrate ethical behavior, loyalty, honesty, and integrity, both on and off the campus.
- Participate in staff, division, and committee meetings as assigned.
- Actively participate in division/college committees and campus activities.
- Other related duties, as may be required by the Executive Director of Financial Services and/or President.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Associate of Applied Science in Computer Science or other technology related field from a regionally accredited institution or three years of work experience serving as an IT Support Specialist or related role.
- Knowledge of Windows operating systems, servers, desktops and network technology applications.

Sick Leave
All regular full-time non-instructional staff earns one day of sick leave which is the equivalent of 8 hours of sick leave per month. Unused sick leave is rolled over to the following year. Retirement
The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions. Responsibility for the management and administration of the TRS is vested in its Board of Control. The Boards of Control elect the Secretary-Treasurer who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the RSA and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the RSA. Tuition Assistance
This tuition waiver program is designed for all full-time instructional and non-instructional employees of The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education and their dependents as defined under by policy. The program will be coordinated by each institution for employees within The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education.
