This position is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, problem solving, follow up account resolution and respectful, compassionate and caring patient interactions.
Overview Of Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively and tactfully with patients and their families and guests, coworkers, managers, providers, and other personnel on a one-to-one basis using appropriate grammar, vocabulary, and word usage, presenting a professional image as a Reid Health representative
- Able to problem-solve, multi-task, and work well in a team environment
- Maintains accurate documentation of daily interaction of accounts worked and resolved
- Responsible for accurate posting of all payment information in a timely manner
- Maintains thorough understanding of all charges billed
- Understands the cash posting process and how it applies to patient bills
- Responsible for actively engaging in the call tree and maintaining a ready status as appropriate
- Works returned mail for incorrect or bad addresses, including updating the billing system and forwarding the mail as appropriate
- Updates insurance information if identified so claim may be resubmitted if needed
- Documents and submits complaints in Midas as required by hospital policy
- Maintains knowledge of hospital and ambulatory managed care contracts, state and federal guidelines, and departmental/organizational policies and procedures
- Follows compliance with all laws, regulations, and guidelines of federal and state programs with an emphasis on prevention of fraud, waste, and abuse
- Position includes other duties and projects as assigned to support goals and outcomes consistent with department expectations
- Actively participates in area and department meetings
- Attends other meetings as requested
Education & Experience
- Education Required: High School Graduate or GED equivalent.
- Experience Preferred: Previous customer experience in a medical setting.
