What are the responsibilities and job description for the Process Technician position at Rehrig Pacific Company?
Purpose of Role
The Process Technician role exists to provide technical processing support for production. The technicians primary responsibilities are to set up, monitor and troubleshoot plastic injection-molding machines and ensure internal processes are fully established to support the achievement of plant and departmental goals.
Areas of Accountabilities
- Ensure injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment, and connected automated systems are set to regulation parameters and meet quality standards and all production goals.
- Execute daily audits of all processes to ensure baseline requirements for repeatability. Report discrepancies to the Process Manager for review and analysis and complete daily reports communicating the current status of the plant.
- Monitor and troubleshoot processing problems, perform preventive maintenance tasks, and document process changes. Troubleshooting tasks might include dealing with inconsistent material, faulty equipment, human error, and preventing defects from occurring.
- Optimize IMM processes, following industry standards and scientific molding principles.
- Support the Processing and Quality Manager on internal & external quality issues derived from the Processing team.
- Assist in developing clear and easy to follow processes that drive consistency and repeatability.
- Assist in the usage, programming and preventive maintenance (PM) of End Of Arm Tooling (E.O.A.T) for robots.
- Assist in utilizing alternative material, additive and color usage recipes and formulas.
- Provide feedback on mold design and assist tool and die makers to dial in each mold for optimal cycle time and quality.
- Utilize Rehrig Management System (RMS) practices and lean tools to effectively complete tasks and communicate with team.
- Support internal and external customers and the plant as a whole by reacting with urgency and effective communication.
- Perform all work in accordance with established safety and operating procedures.
- Offer continuous improvement ideas and actively participate in implementation as appropriate.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Preferred: Associate or Bachelors Degree in Plastics or Plastic Engineering Discipline
- Preferred: 5 years of IMM Process Experience.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
- Proficient using MS Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work in a 24/7 operation.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and departments.
- RJG Certification a plus.
- Ability to apply all aspects of scientific molding.
