Responsibilities
- Assist physical therapists in implementing treatment plans for patients with various conditions.
- Provide hands-on patient care, utilizing techniques such as trigger point therapy and physiotherapy.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary under the supervision of a licensed therapist.
- Educate patients and their families on exercises and rehabilitation techniques to promote recovery.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient treatments, progress notes, and care plans.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care in settings such as home health, outpatient clinics, and skilled nursing facilities.
- Participate in discharge planning to facilitate smooth transitions for patients leaving acute care or rehabilitation settings.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Physical Therapy Assisting or related field.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology is essential.
- Experience in skilled nursing facilities or acute care settings is preferred.
- Familiarity with patient populations including geriatrics and pediatrics is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare teams.
- Ability to develop individualized care plans based on patient assessments.
