Rehab Review LLC is seeking an experienced and highly organized Registered Nurse to serve as a Workers’ Compensation Field Case Manager in the Jackson metropolitan area.
We are considering qualified candidates for full-time, part-time, and PRN positions. This is an excellent opportunity for an RN who wants to use clinical knowledge in a professional, field-based setting without hospital shifts, nights, weekends, or holiday coverage.
The Field RN Case Manager coordinates medical care and communication for employees who have sustained work-related injuries. The case manager works directly with injured employees, treating providers, employers, attorneys when applicable, and claims professionals to promote appropriate treatment, remove barriers to recovery, and facilitate a safe and timely return to work.
This is a clinical coordination and advocacy position. The Field RN Case Manager does not make medical-necessity determinations or perform utilization review.
Primary ResponsibilitiesField Case Management- Attend medical appointments with injured employees in person, by telephone, or virtually, as appropriate.
- Meet with injured employees and treating providers to clarify diagnoses, treatment plans, work status, restrictions, and anticipated recovery timelines.
- Develop individualized case-management plans based on the employee’s diagnosis, functional abilities, job requirements, and treatment recommendations.
- Monitor medical progress and determine whether treatment is advancing the employee toward functional recovery.
- Coordinate appointments, diagnostic testing, therapy, specialist referrals, medical equipment, transportation, and other authorized services.
- Help ensure treating providers have accurate information regarding the employee’s job duties and available modified-duty opportunities.
- Identify clinical, psychosocial, transportation, communication, or administrative barriers that may delay treatment or recovery.
- Address gaps in care and assist the parties with resolving issues that may interfere with medical progress.
- Promote treatment compliance and appropriate follow-up while respecting the injured employee’s rights and the treating provider’s clinical authority.
- Work with treating providers and employers to facilitate safe, medically supported return-to-work planning.
- Obtain clear documentation of work restrictions and functional limitations.
- Compare documented restrictions with the employee’s job duties and available transitional-duty opportunities.
- Encourage gradual or modified return to work when supported by the treating provider.
- Communicate changes in work status promptly to the appropriate stakeholders.
- Help prevent unnecessary work absence by maintaining consistent communication and addressing barriers early.
- Serve as an objective clinical liaison among injured employees, healthcare providers, employers, claims adjusters, attorneys, and other authorized parties.
- Provide timely, concise, and professional case updates.
- Prepare detailed reports following appointments and significant case activity.
- Document treatment recommendations, work restrictions, recovery goals, barriers, and action items accurately.
- Maintain regular communication with assigned claims professionals.
- Protect confidential medical and claim information and comply with applicable privacy requirements.
- Manage multiple active cases while meeting documentation and reporting deadlines.
- Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse license
- Minimum of three years of professional nursing experience
- Strong clinical assessment, organization, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a field-based environment
- Ability to manage multiple cases, appointments, and reporting deadlines
- Proficiency with electronic documentation and case-management systems
- Reliable transportation
- Willingness to travel to medical appointments primarily within the Jackson metropolitan area
- Workers’ compensation case-management experience
- Field case-management experience
- Experience communicating with physicians, employers, adjusters, and attorneys
- Knowledge of occupational medicine, disability management, and return-to-work planning
- CCM, CDMS, CRRN, or comparable professional certification
- Associate degree in nursing or higher required
Scheduling will vary based on employment status and case assignments.
