What are the responsibilities and job description for the Groundskeeper I position at REH Services, LLC?
We are looking for an energetic Groundskeeper to be responsible for maintaining and preservation of the Hotel grounds.
Job Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Follow all safety guidelines for the operation of equipment and chemicals
- Seasonally, hang and remove lights utilizing ladders and high lift buckets.
- Assist other departments as needed for special projects, moving furniture, etc.
- Maintains all lawn areas in attractive and healthful condition, using push and riding lawnmowers to mow grass.
- Removes weeds from lawn and flower beds/planters to have an attractive and pleasant landscaping presentation.
- Plants and maintains flowers, shrubs, trees and other plants to enhance the attractiveness of the property, monitoring their growth and condition on a daily basis.
- Applies chemical herbicides and fertilizer, recommends products for purchase to management and is knowledgeable of the chemicals impact on the environment.
- Waters lawns and flower beds by setting up hoses and sprinklers. Controls automated sprinkler system, including installation of pipes and sprinklers and carries out minor repair jobs on system.
- Picks up all debris and litter on hotel's exterior, including parking lots. Sweeps decks and entrance areas and ensures that sidewalks and steps are clear of dirt and debris.
- Enhances the appearance and use of pools by providing clean and orderly deck areas. Tests pool water for proper chemical balances, maintaining manual log of inspections. Administers the addition of chemicals as needed. Drains and cleans pool as in accordance with established schedule.
- Removes snow, manually and with vehicle plow, from entrances, sidewalks, driveways, and parking lots. Spreads ice melting material on all steps and sidewalks for the safety of guests and employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned, requested, or deemed necessary by management.
- Responsible for the installation, operation, and upkeep of all outside lighting.
- Provide assistance to other employees and departments to contribute to the best overall performance of the department and hotel.
Physical Demands:
Staff may be asked to drive a variety of vehicles such as riding mower or golf cart, so a valid Driver’s License is highly preferred. Work involves exerting 100 pounds of force occasionally, or 50 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Occasional work required in bucket truck. Must be able to stand/walk for 4 hour periods up to 8 hours per day and to be in the sun/heat or cold inclement weather 8 hours per day. Approximately 80% of work will be outdoors. Uniform shirts and coats provided.
