Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for endoscopic procedures by explaining the process, ensuring comfort, and monitoring vital signs.
- Assist physicians during endoscopic examinations such as colonoscopies and upper GI endoscopies by handling equipment and supporting procedural steps.
- Maintain strict aseptic techniques to prevent infection during all stages of endoscope reprocessing and patient care.
- Reprocess endoscopes and related equipment according to established infection prevention protocols to ensure safety and functionality.
- Support diagnostic evaluations by capturing medical imaging, managing documentation, and assisting with specimen collection when necessary.
- Ensure proper functioning of endoscopic tools by performing routine checks, troubleshooting technical issues, and maintaining equipment cleanliness.
- Uphold patient care standards by demonstrating empathy, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and assisting with post-procedure instructions.
Qualifications
- Proven knowledge of gastroenterology procedures, anatomy, and physiology relevant to endoscopic practices.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent to respond effectively in emergency situations.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology related to gastrointestinal health and diagnostic procedures.
- Experience assisting with endoscopic surgical techniques, colonoscopy procedures, or related interventions is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain aseptic technique and perform endoscope reprocessing accurately.
- Technical proficiency with medical imaging equipment and familiarity with diagnostic evaluation processes.
- Excellent patient care skills with compassionate communication and attention to detail to ensure a positive experience for all patients.
