Purpose & Scope:

The Spare Control Room Attendant is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of pumping and storage facilities, distribution system assets, and associated control valves. The role requires the use of multiple software platforms—including SCADA, eOps, Smartsheet, and the Microsoft 365 Suite—to monitor, manage, and document system performance. The position serves as a central communication hub, supporting both routine operations and emergency response activities.

Hours: 3PM-11PM: Monday, Tuesday; 7AM-3PM: Friday-Sunday.  Hours subject to change based on business needs.

Responsibilities:

• Operate and monitor the distribution system using the SCADA platform to ensure reliable, efficient system performance.
• Maintain accurate operational logs, system records, and related documentation.
• Coordinate with Field Service, Field Operations, Engineering, Recreation, and Customer Service teams regarding system conditions and operational activities.
• Monitor and respond to all Control Room systems, including access control, flood warning, video surveillance, radio communications, and emergency notification systems.
• Serve as the primary communication point for internal staff and external contacts.
• Assess, coordinate, and initiate appropriate responses to emergency situations during both regular and after‑hours operations.
• Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, organizational safety procedures, and operational guidelines.
• Provide shift coverage as needed, including nights, weekends, holidays, and short‑notice schedule changes to support 24/7 operations.
• Maintain facility safety and security through operation of the access control system at 90 Sargent Drive and remote monitoring of four Water Treatment Plants.
• Record and track operational information including but not limited to: gate operations, hydrants placed in or out of service, confined space entries and exits, etc.
• Dispatch emergencies to on‑call personnel, law enforcement, and first responders as necessary.
• Monitor and manage gate access for treatment plants, pump stations, and other critical facilities.
• Distribute and collect keys and access cards for cleaning personnel and contractors working after hours.
• Continuously monitor the health of the distribution system to ensure proper asset performance.
• Report operational issues occurring during the shift, including communication failures, main breaks, and SCADA alarms.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Distribution Operations Certificate Preferred
• Understanding of basic hydraulic principles necessary to operate a water distribution system
• Familiar with the use of computers and computerized work stations
• Ability to work independently without direct supervision
• Strong problem solving skills
• Knowledge of RWA practices and processes
• Experience in a service related environment
• Able to Speak, Read and Write English
• Experience with system hydraulics, water treatment and/or plumbing
• Experience working in a busy operational environment while balancing various competing priorities of the job
• Familiarity with computers, Smartsheet, Microsoft 365 Suite, and other technologies utilized to effectively and efficiently manage the distribution system.
