Our transit services provide mobility to residents of the city as well as tourists, providing incredible views and comfortable rides through historical neighborhoods and countless attractions. RTA’s system includes 5 streetcar lines, 30 bus routes, 2 ferry routes, and paratransit services. Our passengers take more than 19 million rides every year.

Wages for new employees will be on a tiered scale based on the candidate’s skills and experience, as approved by management staff at the time of hire. New employees will begin at 90% of the starting rate/tier for the first six months.

jOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the nightly servicing and cleaning of fixed-route buses and vans to ensure vehicles are safe, clean, and ready for daily operations. This role supports overall fleet readiness and contributes to a safe and professional transit environment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to drive and possess a Valid Louisiana Driver’s license
ESSENTIAL WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work is primarily performed outdoors in inclement weather conditions while maintaining company vehicles.
- Employees must be able to lift at least sixty (60) pounds.
- The position requires continuous physical activity throughout the shift, including walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, crawling, and climbing.
- Employees must not have any allergic reactions to diesel oils, fuels, or solvents.
This is a designated Safety Sensitive Position under the RTA Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy (Non-USDOT). Drug and alcohol testing is conducted in accordance with Federal Transit Administration (FTA) regulations.
