Pre-K Teacher | RSU 57
Reports To: Building Administration (Principal and/or Assistant Principal)
Job Goal
To deliver high-quality instruction and services that ensure all students develop the foundational knowledge, skills, and habits of work necessary to become successful individuals and engaged citizens.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in a specific area of teaching (Early Childhood Education preferred).
Certification: Must hold appropriate Maine Department of Education Certification.
Experience: Specific preparation and/or experience teaching at the Pre-K/Early Childhood level.
Performance Responsibilities
Instructional Leadership & Classroom Environment
Develop and implement a program of study that aligns with curriculum goals and meets the diverse needs, interests, and maturity levels of students.
Establish clear objectives for all lessons and projects, communicating these goals effectively to students.
Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages active student participation.
Employ diverse instructional methods and materials to meet stated learning objectives.
Student Assessment & Support
Regularly assess student achievements and provide timely, constructive feedback.
Identify learning difficulties and collaborate with district specialists to provide necessary interventions.
Maintain accurate, complete, and legally compliant records as required by law and district policy.
Professionalism & Collaboration
Actively participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), staff meetings, and committee work.
Commit to continuous professional growth and stay current with best practices in early childhood education.
Partner with parents and community resources to enhance the educational experience.
Ensure classroom organization allows for seamless transitions and effective substitute teacher performance.
Safety & Administration
Implement district policies regarding student conduct and maintain classroom order in a fair and just manner.
Take all reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Remain available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when reasonably requested.
Physical Demands

Frequent: Sitting, standing, walking, and climbing stairs.
Physical Tasks: Bending, pulling, pushing, kneeling, and crouching.
Lifting: Ability to lift ranging from 25–75 lbs depending on student size and situational needs.

Salary & Benefits: To be established by the RSU 57 School Board.
