Mustang Lab Classroom Teacher
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in the specific area of teaching
Holds appropriate Maine Department of Education certification
Demonstrated preparation to teach at the appropriate grade level
Reports To:
Building Administration (Principal and/or Assistant Principal)
Job Goal:
To deliver effective instruction and learning opportunities to students who are at-risk, disengaged, or have fallen behind in traditional school settings, while providing personalized, flexible pathways to graduation. Approaches often utilize blended learning models—combining online platforms with in-person, individualized instruction to help students gain/regain academic credit.
Performance Responsibilities:
Develop and implement individualized learning plans and project-based learning.
Provide a mix of academic, social, and emotional support, often collaborating with counselors, social workers, and administrators
Create a safe, supportive classroom environment that fosters trust and resilience.
Maintain regular, consistent communication with families and staff
Plans and implements a program of study that meets the needs, interests, and abilities of students
Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for lessons and projects
Creates a classroom environment that encourages student participation and is conducive to learning
Utilizes appropriate instructional methods and materials to meet lesson objectives
Assesses student progress regularly and provides timely feedback
Identifies student learning needs and seeks assistance from district specialists as needed
Engages in ongoing professional growth and development
Supports and enforces school policies and maintains fair and consistent classroom management practices
Attends staff meetings, serves on committees, and participates in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
Takes reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
Maintains accurate and complete records as required
Prepares for substitute teachers to ensure continuity of instruction
Utilizes community resources to enhance instruction when appropriate
Makes provisions to be available to students and parents outside the instructional day under reasonable terms
Performs other duties as assigned

Salary, work year, and working conditions will be established by the RSU 57 School Board.
