What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian 2nd Shift position at Regional School District 12?
Position Title: Custodian - 2nd Shift
Job Summary: Using intuitive knowledge, training and the direction of supervision, to clean and maintain the buildings and grounds to provide a pleasant, secure, and safe working and learning environment for employees, students, families and all visitors of Region 12 Schools.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior custodial experience preferred
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must own reliable transportation and be able to travel as required
- Must have flexibility to work early, late or weekends, on short notice
- Knowledge of green cleaning procedures, general cleaning procedures, disinfecting and sanitizing in a school environment
- Knowledge in use of mechanized cleaning equipment or the ability to be trained and use on your own
- Knowledge of general building operations that allow the candidate to function in emergency situations: fire alarm systems, well pump systems, boiler systems, hvac systems, electrical shut offs
- Ability to use small hand tools for making minor repairs if necessary
- Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions
- Ability to work independently, in the background of normal school activities
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and follow through to complete tasks and obligations
- Ability to shovel snow, chop ice, use a snow blower, sand and salt walks and stairs. Provide communication to other custodial staff and the Director of Facilities during storm situations
- Demonstrate the capability to communicate effectively with the Principal, front office secretary, outside contractors, community members, organizations using the school facilities for outside events
