JOB SUMMARY
|
Provides professional pharmacy services. Reviews, interprets, monitors and dispenses medications, drugs and other pharmaceutical as prescribed by physician and according to professional standards and practices. |
Key Job Responsibilities
|
Essential Function |
|
Prepares and dispenses medications as prescribed and ordered by physician/provider, including the calculation and preparation of solutions for oral, external, intramuscular and intravenous administration.

Assists in the operation of assigned Pharmacy.
|
|

Provides clinical consultation.

Operates computerized data systems.
|
|
Works effectively and serves as intermediary between patient care units and pharmacy; answers calls and provides information on matters related to Pharmacy Services.

Participates in drug research projects.
|
|
Provides instruction, assigns and supervises other support/ancillary personnel assigned to unit to provide clinical assistance as needed. Assists in the orientation and oversee the supervision of new staff members and students when they provide patient care, treatment, and services as part of their training. |

Completes required continuous training and education, including department specific requirements.

Essential Function |
|
Maintains a clean, orderly, safe environment to minimize risk to patients and staff by complying with all safety/risk management policies and procedures. Adheres to established policies, compliance/quality improvement, and safety, environment and infection control standards.
|
|
May be required to provide professional pharmacy services in a dual responsibility of clinical and distribution activities. Clinical activities include drug therapy monitoring, kinetics, and physician interaction in a variety of patient care areas. |
|
Provides research and administrative support to special projects, preparing data, reports, and follows-up on projects. |
|
Prepares and maintains required records, reports and files for administrative, operational and regulatory compliance purposes.
|
|
Demonstrates knowledge technical, interpersonal and critical thinking skills to provide care, maintain clinical competency and meet age-specific patient needs within pharmacy areas. Interprets and monitors appropriate drug therapies resulting from age specific groups. This includes the neonate, infant, adolescent, adult, and/or geriatric patient population as specialty assignment dictates. |

Provides coverage for relief and absences. Demonstrates flexibility to work night, weekend and holiday to provide continuous pharmacy coverage as required. |
