Job Description
TITLE: Paraprofessional for Alternative Classroom
START DATE: August 2026 (according to school calendar)
DEPARTMENT: Regional Office of Education #8
DESCRIPTION: Assist teacher in delivery and management of the education plan for students. Provide assistance to students.
MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must hold a valid Paraprofessional License or obtain after acceptance of position. Paraprofessional license requirements:
- Be at least 19 years of age and show proof of one (1) of the following requirements: 1. High School Diploma or GED OR 2. Associate's degree or higher/60 semester hours of coursework OR 3. Be able to pass the Parapro Assessment, a 2.5 hour assessment, 90 questions, based on basic skills and knowledge
Prefer experience working with youth. Strong organizational skills and computer experience, and a desire to help students succeed required.
REPORTS TO: RAP Program Coordinator & RAP Teachers
WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time, 35 hours/week, school year position
COMPENSATION: Commensurate with experience
DUTIES:
- Assist students from diverse backgrounds with needed tutoring
- Keep records pertaining to daily activities in the classroom to include assist with grading student assignments and monitoring online curriculum
- Should be flexible and take initiative as a self-starter
- Punctuality and dependability a must
- Support the teacher in maintaining appropriate discipline
- All other duties as assigned by classroom teachers
