SUMMARY
This position is responsible for providing support to Regional Alternative Education Services Program students, families, staff, and community agencies to help students overcome barriers to learning, improve behavior, and assist in successful transitions back to home schools.
This role provides individual and group counseling to support students’ behavior regulation, coping skills, conflict resolution, trauma-informed needs, and overall social-emotional well-being. The social worker maintains organized case notes, develops support plans, monitors progress, and responds to crises with assessments, de-escalation, and safety planning. They collaborate closely with administrators, teachers, families, and community agencies to coordinate services, participate in IEP/504 and MTSS processes, and help maintain a positive, supportive school climate.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, & CRITICAL SKILLS
- Bachelor's Degree in social work or related area required.
- Knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc., and Virtual Meeting Platforms.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
- Ability to push/pull up to 10 lbs.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and an acceptable/courteous manner.
- Understanding and awareness of multicultural needs
- Ability to maintain a positive and collaborative relationship/attitude across all ROE programs.

The Regional Office of Education is an intermediate agency between the Illinois State Board of Education and local school districts. The Regional Office of Education #33 works with nine districts across the four counties: Henderson, Knox, Mercer, and Warren. We have eight programs and nine different services, with over 200 employees throughout the four counties.
