SUMMARY
This position is responsible for developing and implementing curricula and providing instruction to students in the Regional Alternative Education Services Program.
This role involves daily student engagement, delivering instruction to alternative junior high and high school students, and closely monitoring academic progress through assessments, attendance, and regular parent communication. It includes curriculum planning aligned with Illinois standards, supporting paraprofessionals, and coordinating programs like Edgenuity and incentive initiatives. The position also requires collaboration with staff, school leadership, and community partners to enhance student success and school functions. Additional duties include maintaining a safe, clean environment and participating in professional development.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, & CRITICAL SKILLS
1. Bachelor's Degree in education or related area required.
2. Knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc. and Virtual Meeting Platforms.
3. Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
4. Ability to push/pull up to 10 lbs.
5. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and an acceptable/courteous manner.
6. Understanding and awareness of multicultural needs
7. Ability to maintain a positive and collaborative relationship/attitude across all ROE programs.
ABOUT THE ROE
The Regional Office of Education is an intermediate agency between the Illinois State Board of Education and local school districts. The Regional Office of Education #33 works with nine districts across the four counties: Henderson, Knox, Mercer, and Warren. We have eight programs and nine different services, with over 100 employees throughout the four counties. These programs and services can be anything from parenting classes and professional development for area educators to bus driver training, fingerprinting, and much more.
