About the Role: Under direct supervision, the purpose of the position is to locate and register business accounts using various source materials along with updating addresses on current accounts to ensure compliance for filing and paying for the Agency’s member municipalities. In addition, they may perform clerical tasks and basic form processing and/or keying functions to achieve the goals of the Department.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Ensures taxpayers are following RITA registration compliance requirements.
2. Locates and registers businesses using various source materials and correspondence.
3. Responds to basic telephone inquiries from taxpayers and updates taxpayer records as requested.
4. Processes incoming registration information, including from member municipalities and verifies taxpayer registration forms. Maintains records of all correspondence with taxpayers.
5. Edits business on-line registration forms. Assists with low-risk forms processing when assigned; processing is limited to forms that may require only basic correspondence to be sent to taxpayers and/or employers.
6. Enters data from undeliverable mail into the RITA income tax system.
7. Updates taxpayer addresses based on information from the municipality, Post Office and other sources; uses a variety of resources to verify the actual resident municipality.
8. Researches tax payments, prepares payment forms and keys payments to taxpayer accounts. For specific tax payments, follow-up with taxpayers on their registration requirements, if applicable.
9. Prepares internal registration compliance documentation.
10. Performs general office tasks including: filing of a variety of information including forms and correspondence, sending correspondence via fax to municipalities, retrieving documents from copiers/fax machines and designated bins or trays.
11. Requests, mails or faxes preprinted and blank tax forms to new taxpayers.
12. Performs account maintenance and other updates on RITA’s tax system for business accounts, including, but not limited to, administering return mail, correcting addresses and account statuses and adding account notes or comments when appropriate. Performs basic arithmetical calculations as needed to complete data entry tasks.
13. Performs other related work as assigned.

Physical Requirements: The individual assigned to this position must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job, with or without a reasonable accommodation, which include, but are not limited to the following:
· Must be able to remain in a stationary position a majority of the time.
· Consistently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
· Must be able to transport agency equipment to & from the office.
· Frequently communicates with taxpayers, tax preparers, members, etc. who have inquiries about their accounts. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
· Ability to transport required work equipment from home to work as needed.
About You: High school diploma or GED; supplemented by up to one (1) year previous experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
