General Statement Of Responsibilities

Major Duties
- Provide crisis supports to communities within the catchment area.
- Applies knowledge of crisis response to individuals who are experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis including, but not limited, to individuals diagnosed with ID/DD.
- Applies knowledge regarding the nature of serious mental illness (SMI), substance use disorders (SUD), serious emotional disturbance (SED, and/or intellectual and/or developmental disabilities depending on the population served.
- Documents all services and results in the consumer's electronic health record (EHR) by established deadlines.
- Documents progress and maintains a permanent record of the consumer's activity according to established methods and procedures
- Oversees Medicaid and Medicare related documentation, record keeping, and billing.
- Communicates effectively and efficiently with consumers, community partners, and stakeholders.
- Makes recommendations to appropriate community services and resources.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university in a behavioral health or human services related field.
- A minimum of 1 year of documented clinical experience an equivalent combination of education and experience that qualifies the incumbent as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP).
- QMHP preferred
- To ensure the safe and efficient operation of the program, a valid Virginia Driver’s License plus an acceptable driving record as issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles are required. For business use of a personal car, a certificate of valid personal automobile insurance must be provided.
Knowledge Of
- Crisis interventions; family, group, and individual therapies; psychosocial education; risk assessments; substance use intervention required. Behavior Modification; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and sex offender treatment is a plus;
- Community mental health and public health in order to provide advocacy and enhance a consumers' treatment and access to community resources;
- The principles, procedures, techniques, trends, and literature related to mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance use;
- And adherence to existing professional ethical standards;
- And adherence to licensure regulations related to services provided;
- And adherence to CSB, DBHDS and DMAS policies and procedures.
- De-escalation and crisis intervention;
- Forming and maintaining effective therapeutic/counseling relationships with consumers, to monitor movement in the therapeutic process, and terminate the therapeutic relationship in appropriate ways;
- Working collaboratively in a team environment to ensure the needs of consumers are met.
- Communicate effectively in order to facilitate treatment and relay information to others as part of an interdisciplinary team;
- Perform clinical interviews in order to obtain information and to formulate appropriate treatment plans;
- Effectively communicate in writing and prepare written documents within deadlines
- Work in and contribute to a collaborate team environment.
