POSITION TITLE: Community Services Associate B- Peer Support Specialist
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is a FLSA non-exempt position. The position serves as a Peer Support Specialist for the Recovery Support Team and is responsible for providing peer support services to individuals with substance use disorder that need support connecting to residential and outpatient services at Region Ten. The individual is responsible for completing Residential Screening assessments and coordinating residential placements for individuals identified needing this level of support. In addition to individual peer support, this position provides outreach and education to people living in Charlottesville’s Public Housing neighborhoods. This position is responsible for transporting clients as needed to residential treatment and to appointments around the Charlottesville area. This position reports to the Program Manager of Recovery Support Services and is expected to perform duties as specified and according to the policies of Region Ten Community Services Board, as well as those of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS).

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, preferred.
- 72-hour DBHDS Peer Support Specialist training completed prior to hiring preferred
EXPERIENCE:
- 1-year experience is preferred working (paid or unpaid) in a Peer Support role. Personal, lived experience in recovery is required; Sustained personal recovery is recommended.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
- Certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist through the Virginia Board of Counseling is preferred at time of hire, and is required to be obtained within 1 year of employment
- To ensure the safe and efficient operation of the program, a valid Virginia Driver’s License plus an acceptable driving record as issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles are required. For business use of a personal car, a certificate of valid personal automobile insurance must
