Full-Time | North Platte, Nebraska

This position combines community-based support for individuals experiencing an immediate behavioral health crisis with coordination and programming responsibilities within our Day Support program.

Approximately 75% of the position will be dedicated to Emergency Support services, with the remaining 25% focused on Day Support. This is a great fit for someone who enjoys variety, works well independently, and is comfortable helping people navigate difficult or rapidly changing situations.

Emergency Support Responsibilities

As an Emergency Support Worker, you will provide short-term case management and practical support to individuals experiencing an immediate behavioral health crisis. Responsibilities may include:

  • Meeting with individuals to assess immediate needs and identify appropriate supports
  • Developing safety plans and helping individuals connect with resources and services
  • Coordinating with hospitals, mental health boards, behavioral health providers, law enforcement, and other community partners
  • Assisting individuals with accessing treatment, benefits, housing, transportation, or other resources that may help stabilize their situation
  • Providing follow-up and coordination during the immediate crisis period
  • Completing required documentation in a timely and accurate manner
  • Working collaboratively with clinical staff and community partners to help individuals move toward appropriate ongoing services

Day Support Responsibilities

One to two days per week, this position will provide coverage within our Day Support program, which offers a supportive, community-based environment for adults with behavioral health needs. On assigned Day Support days, responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and facilitating meaningful activities and programming
  • Engaging with members and helping maintain a welcoming and supportive environment
  • Responding to individual needs that arise during the program day
  • Coordinating with other behavioral health staff as appropriate
  • Completing required program documentation

Schedule

This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position based in North Platte. The schedule is primarily Monday through Friday during typical business hours. Some flexibility may occasionally be needed to accommodate later appointments based on individual client needs.

After-hours work is rare, and this position does not include a regularly scheduled on-call rotation.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, human services, criminal justice, sociology, or a related field is preferred.

Relevant behavioral health experience may be substituted for formal education. We recognize that valuable experience can come from a variety of sources, including professional experience, volunteer work, and lived experience navigating behavioral health systems.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be comfortable working with individuals experiencing significant stress or behavioral health crises
  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, providers, and community partners
  • Be resourceful and able to problem-solve when needs are complex or services are difficult to access
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Be organized and able to manage documentation and follow-up responsibilities
  • Approach individuals with respect, empathy, and a strengths-based perspective
  • Be flexible and able to shift priorities when urgent needs arise
