What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housing Coordinator position at Region 6 Behavioral Healthcare?
The Housing Department at Region 6 Behavioral Healthcare currently has a position available for a Housing Coordinator. The Housing Coordinator works to address the housing needs of consumers experiencing mental health and substance use challenges. The Coordinator works collaboratively with local agencies and property owners/landlords to ensure that consumers maintain housing stability. This includes inspecting rental properties, conducting voucher issuance interviews, coordinating placement with landlords/providers, verifying consumer information, completing annual reviews in the consumers' homes or within the community, referring consumers to various services, and other tasks as necessary.
The ideal candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, education, criminal justice, or a related field. Preference is given to those candidates with at least two years’ experience in housing, case management, and rental property operations. In addition, a strong working knowledge of the federal housing choice voucher program and the behavioral health system is preferred.
The ideal applicant must be able to:
- Handle potentially complex situations effectively
- Interact with consumers and other community stakeholders either in person, by email, or phone
- Prioritize and multitask numerous projects at once, involving tight deadlines
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills and be a self-starter
- Understand how to work with confidential and sensitive information
- Work independently, seeking input from management when necessary
- Perform basic math skills
- Work with consumers with mental illnesses
- Comfortably meet consumers in the home and within the community
- Travel locally as needed; a company vehicle is available
Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain current auto insurance. The selected applicant will be required to pass a criminal background check and a pre-employment drug screen.

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
