Primary Purpose
Assess the educational, learning styles, and program needs of students referred to special education. Work cooperatively with instructional personnel and parents to provide the most appropriate instructional programs for students with disabilities and/or students requiring support services, as required by state and federal laws.
Education/Certification
Master's degree in educational assessment
Valid Texas teaching certificate
Valid Texas Educational Diagnostician certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills
Two years teaching experience as required by law

Special Knowledge/Skills
- Knowledge of current case law of related to students with disabilities; strict legal compliance with federal and state mandates
- Knowledge of the education of special education students and strategies to facilitate learning
- Knowledge of characteristics, etiology, and research related to cognitive, language, motor, and social/emotional aspects of emotional behavioral and learning disabilities, including students with dyslexia
- Knowledge of prevention and intervention strategies (both academic/cognitive and behavioral)
- Excellent organizational, communication, and inter- and intra- personal skills
Two years teaching experience as required by law
Major Responsibilities And Duties
- Receives student referrals; select and administer formal and informal assessments to determine student
- Serves as the head of the assessment team and assumes responsibility for the comprehensive and timely
- Provides for professional growth in keeping abreast of current requirements and changes in state and
- Conducts and participates in the Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee (ARDC) to assist with
Plans (IEPs) for students according to district procedures and state and federal regulations.
- Provides specific remediation techniques for students with intellectual disabilities, autism, and learning

- Presents staff development training in assigned school to assist school personnel in identifying and
