Reggio’s Treehouse is looking for an Assistant Center Director to join our leadership Team in Lansdowne, VA location. The ideal candidate is a proven early childhood education leader with a passion for working with young children and their families, and has the vision, high integrity, and strong interpersonal skills that make for a great leader.
Our Assistant Center Director is responsible for supporting the overall operations of a childcare facility in accordance with state and local laws, licensing requirements and Company policy to provide an outstanding experience for the staff, children, and their parents. The Assistant Director is an important line of representation in welcoming families and children, to ensure outstanding care and service. Communications and leadership are essential in this role to build and foster parent relationships and collaborate and manage center staff on day-to-day operations.
Core Requirements:
- Meet federal as well as individual state requirements (i.e., TB test, physical, OSHA, First Aid) and maintain credentials for the position (i.e., ongoing training).
- Must meet all state requirements (Currently Virginia Department of Education qualification)
- Program Directors can meet one of the following criteria with education in a child-related field:
- Graduate degree in a child-related field
- An endorsement or bachelor’s degree in a child-related field
- College credits: 48 semester hours with 12 being in a child-related field or 72 quarter hours with 18 being in a child-related field
- Two years of programmatic experience with one year in a supervisory capacity and other advanced educational requirements
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills
- Familiarity with NAEYC accreditation standards
- Strong knowledge in and ability to lead educators in implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum
- Strong organizational skills
- Capacity to understand and manage center financial duties, as well as operate technical equipment(s)
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks
- Demonstrated sensitivity and responsiveness to needs of parents, students and staff members
Responsibilities Include:
- Assist the Director in day-to-day operations of the Center, including determination of all schedules and assignment of preschool staff responsibilities
- Understanding and complying with state & local child care licensing regulations
- Demonstrating highly effective organizational, time management, and multitasking skills
- Supervise general condition and upkeep of the school and grounds; ensure that the new health regulations related to COVID-19 are being met by school community
- The ability to communicate the program’s philosophy and promote a positive public image to staff and current & prospective families.
- Ability to work off site in promoting the school at preschool fairs and community events
- Establish and maintain a strong collaborative relationship with staff and families
- Communicate with all elements of the school community (parents, teachers and administrative staff)
- Assist with the development of a curriculum to meet the needs of children
- Staff management, including assisting with hiring, training and supervision of preschool staff
- Assist the staff in the creation of a Reggio inspired environment
- Assist the Director in administering, planning and evaluating lesson plans and long-term projects in the classrooms
