The opportunity:
As the Director, Internal Audit, you will be responsible for leading the company’s internal audit function, ensuring compliance with financial, operational, and regulatory requirements. This role is critical in assessing and improving risk management, internal controls, and corporate governance processes. Additionally, you’ll work closely with executive leadership, the Audit Committee, external auditors and other outside advisors to drive a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
\n- Develop and execute a risk-based internal audit plan to assess the effectiveness of financial, operational, and compliance controls.
- Ensure compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Directly perform and/or manage co-sourced efforts with outside advisors to conduct operational, financial, and compliance audits to identify areas of risk and recommend enhancements.
- Provide independent assurance and advice to senior leadership and the Audit Committee regarding internal controls and risk management.
- Oversee and coordinate co-sourced efforts with outside advisors for the documentation and testing of internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) and controls over financial statement disclosures.
- Collaborate with business units to develop and implement effective risk mitigation strategies.
- Partner with external auditors and other outside advisors to ensure smooth audit processes and timely completion of required audits.
- Develop and maintain internal audit policies, procedures, and best practices in alignment with industry standards.
- Prepare and present audit reports to executive leadership and the Audit Committee, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
- Lead investigations into potential fraud, financial irregularities, or compliance breaches.
- Assist in other finance, accounting or operational projects as needed based on business needs and objectives.
- Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks affecting the biotechnology sector.

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; Master’s or other relevant advanced degree preferred
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or other relevant/equivalent designations are highly preferred
- 10 years of experience in accounting, internal audit, risk management, and/or compliance required; significant experience working with or for publicly traded companies, preferably in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or life sciences, and preferably with commercial manufacturing operations
- Strong understanding of SOX compliance, SEC regulations, and GAAP
- Experience managing audit teams, including those performed by external advisors, and working with Audit Committees
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
- Ability to communicate complex audit findings effectively to senior leadership and board members
- High ethical standards and a commitment to corporate integrity
- Exposure to ERP and other relevant business system software systems is required
- Strong business acumen and financial analysis work experience is required
