Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced MDS Coordinator (RN) to join our skilled nursing facility team in Florida. The MDS Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely completion of Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments in accordance with federal and state regulations. This role plays a critical part in resident care planning, reimbursement, and overall clinical compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and complete MDS assessments (OBRA, PPS, and other required assessments) accurately and on schedule
- Ensure compliance with CMS guidelines and Florida state regulations
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and update individualized care plans
- Monitor case mix index (CMI) and support optimal reimbursement practices
- Conduct chart audits and provide education to staff on documentation requirements
- Track and manage assessment reference dates (ARDs) and submission deadlines
- Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) initiatives
- Serve as a resource for clinical staff regarding MDS processes and regulatory updates
Qualifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Florida
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in MDS coordination in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting
- Strong knowledge of RAI Manual, CMS guidelines, and Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- RAC-CT certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
