Position Summary

Physical therapists (PT) in an outpatient surgical center are specialists and experts who provide treatment or rehabilitation to patients with injuries/surgical procedure recovery affecting the musculoskeletal system, which covers the muscles, joints, bones, ligaments, and tendons. The physical therapist is part of the Center’s interdisciplinary team and assists in providing individualized patient plans of care, pre- and post-op education and post-operative recovery assessment and evaluation of discharge readiness. The PT participates in the QAPI program of the center.

This is a per diem position!

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assesses patient and family/coach needs in order to provide quality care to assigned patients.
  • Performs evaluation based on the need of each patient, specific program guideline, and recommendation/order from physicians and provides treatment/education to patients with pre- and post-op orthopedic surgical procedures for optimal outcomes.
  • Takes part in program planning and patient/family education planning and conferencing meetings.
  • Evaluates patient’s response and intervenes appropriately for optimal outcomes.
  • Demonstrates ability to clearly communicate instructions to co-workers, patient and family and appropriately answers questions.
  • Appropriately adapts and assists during rapidly changing pace and manages resources as needed to maintain patient flow.
  • Develops, discusses, and communicates a realistic problem list (plan of care) for each patient, in collaboration with each patient, family, and significant other with the goal to address all identified needs.
  • Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to implement the physical therapy medical plan of care, provide education and perform physical therapy procedures as necessary for the care of the patient.
  • Evaluates the identified problems, care provided, and patient’s responses are reassessed in order to meet patient and family needs and to ensure overall quality of care delivered.
  • Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of physical therapy care/education provided to ensure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team, in order to ensure quality care.
  • Functions as a role model for current and new staff and participates in orientation of new employees regarding role/responsibilities of PT.
  • Demonstrates leadership behaviors in a professional manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

REQUIRED:

  • Physical Therapist license (per State requirements)
  • Minimum two years physical therapy experience
  • BLS certification (as required by individual ASC policy)

Preferred

  • Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from a CAPTE accredited program.
  • ASC or acute hospital experience.

The Pay Range For This Role Is

45 - 60 USD per hour (Oregon Surgical Institute)
