We are seeking a Mouse Research & Production Facility Supervisor to join our VelociGene team, supporting our vivarium operations in a hybrid work mode. In this role, you will oversee animal husbandry operations, staff development, compliance, and facility support while collaborating with Animal Production, Veterinary Services, Assisted Reproductive Technology teams, researchers, Facilities, and Environmental Health and Safety. Weekend and holiday work may be required as essential personnel.

Discover Your Role

  • Oversee daily husbandry operations, animal health support, and staff adherence to SOPs.
  • Schedule, train, mentor, and evaluate animal care technicians.
  • Perform quality assurance checks and address deviations promptly.
  • Create weekly schedules, fulfill service requests, and ensure staffing coverage.
  • Coordinate facility maintenance, equipment repairs, and vendor support.
  • Manage supply inventories, ordering, receiving, and stocking activities.
  • Support campus-wide vivarium collaboration, inspections, committees, and projects.
  • You lead teams through change while fostering communication, accountability, and development.

This Role Requires

  • High School Diploma or equivalent technical certification; Associate degree or higher preferred.
  • Experience supervising vivarium husbandry operations, staff, and scheduling.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, including the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals.
  • Experience maintaining records, documentation, and inspection readiness.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Copilot, and internal applications.
  • AALAS Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) certification or higher preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to perform physical husbandry duties, equipment movement, rack sanitization, and supply stocking.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in environments with noise, allergens, wet surfaces, and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to use PPE and operate loading dock equipment, including pallet jacks and drum transporters.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, organizational, time management, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, collaborate effectively, provide feedback, take initiative, and maintain personal integrity and accountability.
