Direct Care Worker

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
• Monitor patient health by taking vital signs and observing for any changes in condition
• Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary
• Administer medications following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance
• Support clients during outings or community activities to promote social engagement and independence
• Maintain accurate documentation of care provided, patient observations, and progress notes
• Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or wheelchairs to ensure safe transfers and mobility assistance

Requirements

• Prior experience in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care settings is highly preferred
• Knowledge of patient care techniques including CPR, first aid, Alzheimer's and dementia care, autism support, and hospice care
• Ability to work with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges with patience and empathy
• Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and recognizing health or behavioral changes
• Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and assist with mobility tasks safely
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to protect client confidentiality and privacy
• Valid certifications in CPR and first aid; additional certifications in medication administration or nursing assistance are a plus
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members, clients, and families
• Class E Chaffeur's drivers license

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

• DSP: 4 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Class E Chaffeur's drivers license (Required)
• First Aid/CPR certification (Preferred)
• Med Tech/Aid certification (Preferred)
• CNA certification (Preferred)

Shift availability:

• Night Shift (Preferred)
