Job Summary:
The Housekeeping position at Refugio County Memorial Hospital plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for our patients, visitors, and staff. This position is responsible for performing housekeeping duties as needed to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation within the hospital premises.
Key Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous custodial or janitorial experience is preferred.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks associated with Housekeeping duties.
- Knowledge of cleaning products, chemicals, and proper handling procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness and safety.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow safety guidelines and procedures.
- Flexibility and availability to work on an as-needed basis, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities:
Cleaning and Sanitation:
- Perform routine cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and disinfecting surfaces in various hospital areas.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and fixtures.
- Empty and dispose of trash and medical waste in accordance with hospital protocols.
- Clean windows, glass surfaces, and mirrors as needed.
Floor Care:
- Maintain clean and safe floors by sweeping, mopping.
- Follow proper floor care procedures.
Room Preparation:
- Prepare and set up patient rooms, meeting rooms, and public areas as needed.
- Ensure rooms are stocked with essential supplies.
Infection Control:
- Adhere to infection control policies and procedures to prevent the spread of pathogens and maintain a sanitary environment.
Equipment and Supplies:
- Maintain custodial equipment in good working condition and report any malfunctions or needed repairs.
- Monitor and report the inventory of cleaning supplies, toiletries, and other custodial materials to ensure adequate stock levels.
Safety Compliance:
- Follow all safety guidelines, including the safe use of cleaning products and chemicals.
- Report any safety hazards, damaged equipment, or unsafe conditions to the Facilities Manager.
Communication:
- Communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and hospital staff to ensure a coordinated approach to custodial duties.
- Report any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate department.
Emergency Response:
- Be prepared to respond to emergency cleaning and sanitation needs, including spills and accidents, as they arise.
Compliance:
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including those related to safety, infection control, and sanitation.
10. Other duties as assigned.
Pay: $12.00 - $13.00 per hour
