Position Overview:

The Finance Coordinator plays a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of our nonprofit organization. This individual will be responsible for managing financial transactions, budgeting, reporting, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The Finance Coordinator will work closely with the finance team (Finance Manager, Finance Assistant), program managers, and other stakeholders to maintain accurate financial records, assist in budget development, and contribute to the overall success of the organization's mission.

Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

  • Record and track financial transactions, including income, expenses, donations, grants, and program-specific expenditures.
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records using appropriate accounting software and tools.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and reimbursements.
  • Monitor and reconcile bank statements, credit card transactions, and other financial documents.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Assist in the development and monitoring of the organization's annual budget.
  • Collaborate with program managers to develop program-specific budgets and forecasts.
  • Analyze financial data to provide insights and recommendations for budget adjustments as needed.

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare regular financial reports for management, the board of directors, and external stakeholders.
  • Generate accurate and timely financial statements, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Provide financial analysis to support decision-making processes and strategic planning.

Grants and Fund Management:

  • Assist in the preparation of grant applications and funding proposals, ensuring compliance with financial requirements.
  • Track grant funds, ensuring proper allocation and reporting in line with grant agreements.
  • Prepare financial reports for grantors, demonstrating fund utilization and outcomes achieved.

Compliance and Auditing:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, tax laws, and nonprofit accounting standards.
  • Assist in the preparation for annual audits, providing necessary documentation and support.
  • Work with auditors to address inquiries and implement audit recommendations.

Donor Relations:

  • Support the development team in providing accurate financial information to donors and sponsors.
  • Generate acknowledgments for donations, ensuring timely and accurate communication.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and automation within the finance department.
  • Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Previous experience in nonprofit financial management or a similar role is a plus.
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools, including accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and spreadsheet applications (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets).
  • Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles, regulations, and compliance.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Detail-oriented, with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and engage with various stakeholders.
  • Strong ethical values and commitment to the mission of the Refugee Dream Center.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
